Python / AI engineer — offline RAG, CAD/GIS automation, LLM agents

Maxim Kukhto

I build systems that work without internet — and prove their work with tests, measured latency, and evidence links.

Currently a medical-equipment engineer at a radiotherapy center; leaving in November to do software full-time.

01 / Service record

I do not come to software from a bootcamp. I come from a radiotherapy bunker: linear accelerators, dosimetry, and documentation that has to be right the first time.

Available full-time from late November 2026 · Mogilev, Belarus · UTC+3

  1. 2022 — 11.2026

Medical-equipment engineer · Mogilev Regional Oncology Dispensary

Maintenance of Varian TrueBeam and VitalBeam linear accelerators: dosimetry checks, MLC and imaging calibration, fault diagnosis in an RF-shielded bunker, service documentation with no margin for error.

  2. 2020 — 2026

    Software alongside the service work

A commercial geodetic converter, a production photo-to-DXF pipeline for surveyors, an offline RAG system for equipment documentation, and a live Telegram product on Cloudflare.

  3. 11.2026 →

    Software full-time

Leaving the clinical role to build software with the same constraint I worked under for four years: the result has to be verifiable.

02 / Selected work

Three systems with different constraints: no internet, millimetre precision, and a live product. Source is public where possible; commercial work is under NDA.

03 / What I do

I take a problem from prototype to a release that can be checked — not a demo that only works on the happy path.

01

Offline and on-prem RAG

Document ingestion, hybrid retrieval, reranking, local quantized inference (llama.cpp / GGUF, ONNX), evaluation harnesses, evidence-linked answers.

02

CAD/GIS automation

DXF/DWG generation, photo-to-drawing CV pipelines, coordinate systems, numerical calibration, desktop tooling with PySide6/PyQt6.

03

Python backend and desktop

FastAPI services, async pipelines, SQL schemas and migrations, Cloudflare Workers/D1/R2, CI with coverage and mutation gates.

04 / About

Maxim Kukhto — Python / AI engineer — offline RAG, CAD/GIS automation, LLM agents

I am a medical-equipment engineer at the Mogilev Regional Oncology Dispensary, where I maintain Varian TrueBeam / VitalBeam linear accelerators. That work is safety-critical and documentation-heavy — which is exactly why I built Engineer Companion: a field engineer in an RF-shielded bunker needs the exact page in seconds, with no internet.

I have been building software alongside that role since 2020: a commercial geodetic converter, a production photo-to-DXF pipeline, an offline RAG system, and a live Telegram product. I am leaving the clinical role in November 2026 to work on software full-time.

Commercial projects are covered by NDA. I can show architecture, screenshots, and measured results; source stays private.

Let's talk

Looking for a remote Python/AI role in CAD/GIS automation, RAG/LLM systems, or medtech. I can start full-time from late November 2026.
